We often get asked: “How do I wash my wig?” So, to answer this frequently asked question, we have given you an easy, step-by-step guide, that will help you preserve those beautiful inches.

1. Detangle

Fortunately, this step is made easy with Dotti Hair Extensions, because our 100% virgin hair is practically tangle-free. We do, however, suggest that you use a wide-tooth. To minimize breakage - lay the wig flat on a table, brush from the ends and work your way up to the roots.

2. Shampoo

Use a quality mild shampoo with lukewarm water to wash your hair from root to tip. Now use gentle downward strokes in sections and do not rub the hair or scalp. Rinse with cool to lukewarm water and gently blot the wig with a towel.

3. Conditioner

Apply the conditioner evenly throughout the hair. Avoid the base of the wig, as this can loosen the knots and leave in the conditioner for about 3-5 minutes. Rinse the wig thoroughly and gently squeeze the excess water, without rubbing or wringing the hair (blot the hair with a towel).

4. Dry

The best way to dry your hair is to do it naturally. Place it on a wig stand or wig head and let it air dry. To restyle your wig, you can use a hairdryer, curling iron, or flat iron.

Additional hair care tips:

• Avoid exposure to chlorinated water, seawater and hot water to prevent damage.
• Do not wear your hairpiece while sleeping, as this can result in hair loss, matting, and damage.
• Avoid storing your hair in direct sunlight because this may lead to fading.
• To prevent the wig cap from stretching, store the hair on a wig stand or form that is smaller than the base of the cap.
